Basement of the Dead:

In the late 1920’s, Walker Laundry opened at 42 West New York St. and became Aurora’s largest laundry Company. Around 1945 Imus Kilya was working there as maintenance engineer. His son Al came to work as his assistant in 1960.

Heat for the building and steam for the presses was supplied by a coal fired boiler installed when the building was built. Al and Imus continually complained that it needed to be replaced, but management wouldn’t spend the money. In 1964 the boiler exploded maiming and scalding Al and Imus. They never returned to work and rumor was they had vowed to get even.

Under the streets and building were sewer lines and tunnels well known to Al and Imus. A year or so after the explosion people from the laundry started to disappear and body parts were found in the river near the drainage pipes. Al and Imus were suspected but never found. The laundry eventually closed and the basement was never used again. Businesses have come and gone but nobody stays. Basement Of The Dead is proof that Al & Imus still exist and have made this basement their home.. The mutilation and horror you will witness is so shocking, you'll wish you never entered.

Shattered, the smashing clown, lost all sense of being human the day his famous sledgehammer trick malfunctioned, killing his wife and partner. He knew it had to have been the roadies fault for setting up the trick incorrectly or the pressure he felt from the crowd to do one more stupid trick! The hate and pain devoured his soul. Evil was all that remained. He went through the crowd like a hammer goes through a skull. When his rampage was over, 30 audience members and 15 workers found their final resting places in a puddle of their own blood. That was the last night Shattered the smashing clown was ever seen.

Rumor has it that the clown took refuge down in the darkest depths of an old building at 42 W. New York St. The locals call the building the Basement of the Dead. The story goes on to say that Shattered spent his time in exile praying to demons and learning to spread his evil across dimensions. His vivid nightmares are now becoming part of his resurrected circus. The rumor also says that all the souls he took that night followed him down there. They are keeping the smashing clown company.
Now, the circus tent is reopened! Can you hear the pipe organ in the distance? Shattered the smashing clown is longing to make you scream again. The show must go on! Come see SHATTERED Circus, The World’s Best 3D Nightmare.”

SO COME WALK THE BASEMENT OF AL & IMUS KILYA. IF YOU’VE GOT THE GUTS!

We had an incredibly enjoyable experience during our visit. It marked our inaugural time at this haunted house, and it certainly lived up to our expectations. The 3D segment of the tour was a particular highlight for us, and in the clown area, Steph had to cover her ears to brave the eerie atmosphere.

It was my first time here and we liked it. The scenes were nightmarish and the scares were spot on. Lighting and animatronics were superb. It gelled well with scenes. It's a great place for a good scare. Definitely recommend.

  • Best entertainment....

I loved the scares in Basement of dead. It was unique and lots of scope for some scary excitement. It was crowded and all we could hear and see was the excitement outside and screaming from inside. The location was nice and the outdoor haunts were really good. The scares were detailed and scenes used cool props and animatronics. It was the best kind of entertainment for me and my family.

  • Terrifying attraction

Amazing scares, found myself screaming and laughing quite often. It was awkward and funny. There was quite an effort to make it look scary and haunting. The props were gory and creatively used to create the fear factor. A terrifying attraction worth every penny.

  • One of the best...

I visit most of the haunts during the Halloween season. Basement of the dead was one of the best. It really wasn’t what I had expected. We did not survive the escape room which was the only disappointment. Else everything was top notch. Cool props and smart actors. Technology and design were all used to create a fear factor and it worked. There was a ritual room which had some voodoo kind of magic. It was really awesome.

  • Awesome scares

So much fun! Very scary. The actors were interactive and doing their best to create awesome scares. Gory makeup and costume made things worse.

  • Email Verified Highly Recommended

I with a group of friends were planning to visit a haunted house. Then, one of my cousins mentioned about Basement of the Dead Haunt and how good his last visit was. So we drove 2 ½ hours to reach the haunt and it was indeed scary fun. The DJ playing Michael Jacksons Thriller while we were waiting in the line was a different experience. The 3D section was really amazing. The live zombie hunt was very terrifying. I have never screamed like this in my life. My favourite was the Clown House. Creepy clowns there would freak you out. Costumes and makeup of actors stood out. I give the score 8/10 to this house. Loved the visit. Recommended!

  • Email Verified Escape Room Very Challenging

One of the scariest haunted houses I had been to. The Trauma escape rooms was really challenging. The riddles and puzzles really confused us before we eventually made our way out. Character Joe and the ice cream clown was very frightening. In most of the haunted houses I had visited, there was only 1 or 2 clowns. But here there was a plenty of clowns. Special effects were really awesome. The Wizard event was a good experience. The Valentine’s Day, St Patty’s Day and Easters Event were fantastic too. The spinning mad hatter room was really a classic touch. The most interesting part was the zombie shootout. It was fun chasing and shooting zombies. But be careful not to exhaust your ammo. I suggest this to anyone who likes to get scared. I will visit again.
